Pursuant to the law and the Statute, the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth carries out tasks of the Provincial Administration in the field of sports and youth, pertaining to preparation of acts for the Assembly and the Provincial Government, which regulate issues of importance to the province as regards sports, physical culture and the areas of interest to the youth. In the field of sports: the secretariat ensures that the citizens’ needs and interests in field of sports, which are determined by law, are met; establishes sports facilities and programmes of international sports competitions of importance to the AP Vojvodina, founds sports activities organisations of interest to the AP Vojvodina, and exercises founding rights over them; closely regulates conditions for conducting sports activities by organisations in the field of sports and the use of public sports grounds; determines provincial sports federations which meet the needs and interests of the citizens in the territory of the AP Vojvodina, in cases when several provincial professional branch sports federations are registered in a single sports branch, and determines which sports branches are particularly important for the AP Vojvodina; keeps the records in the field of sports; determines the fulfilment of conditions for organising sports events and provides conditions for work, that is, for performing the activities of the Provincial Institute for Sports and Sports Medicine, as well as other organisations in the field of sports.
The Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth carries out executive, expert and development tasks of the provincial administration and inspects the enforcement of regulations in the field of sports. Within the scope of its activities, it monitors, supervises and assists the work of institutions and public services, founded by the AP Vojvodina.
The Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth monitors and supports the work of youth associations and associations dealing with youth issues, as well as federations, local youth offices; establishes and coordinates the work of the Youth Council of the AP Vojvodina, in accordance with the law; prepares programmes and proposes measures for improvement of the status of young people in conformity with the Youth Policy Action Plan; supports projects in the areas important for the youth; proposes the establishment of awards in the area of sports and youth, presents awards to athletes for the achieved sports results, awards scholarships to talented athletes, and presents awards to talented and successful children and adolescents in the AP Vojvodina and continually supports their development.
The Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth, in accordance with the law, carries out those tasks of the state administration, which have been conferred upon the authorities of the AP Vojvodina by the law.
Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth also carries out other tasks, conferred upon it pursuant to the law, Provincial Assembly Decision or other regulation.
